Nick DeRenzi is a first generation, bi-racially adopted, Oaxacan-american image maker and documentarian. His work and photographic practice includes using multiple artistic mediums to explore the relationships between the past, present and future. Through a prison abolitionist ideology Nick’s work documents the joy and power of communities fighting for self determination and their vision of a future void of state sanctioned violence and neglect.
His work has appeared at Book & Job Gallery, Coalition on Homelessness’ Art Auction, Southern Exposure, 1525 Gallery at Bare Bottle Brewery, Good Mother Gallery, Evolved SF, Accion Latina, 111 Minna Gallery, Oakland Secret, RVCA SF, Youth Art Exchange and Art Attack SF. He has also put out three self published zines and has been published in Findrangers, El Tecolote, Quilt Magazine, Mission Local, “Dedicated to Those Who”, “Rent Check Series” and the Huffington Post. He is also a co-founder of Golden Gate Co-op, an art service based cooperative run by artists of color in San Francisco.
